I have loved fashion since I was old enough to shop. To me, fashion is art. I have always been enamored by talented designers/artists. After living in Los Angeles for five years and attending fashion school, this love grew deeper. I began creating clothing and accessories for myself, never thinking I would end up selling them. After moving to Chicago and working in the high end bridal industry, I started to fall in love with not only the designs, but the luxurious fabrics and attention to detail. I never knew there were so many different types of lace! It wasn't until I moved back to Grand Rapids (to marry my wonderful husband) that Kate DeKoster Handmade was born. I had aquired a lot of fabric while in LA and Chicago and decided to put it to use. When the word got out that I was making accessories, a friend of mine who was getting married asked if I could make her headpiece. I was honored and excited that someone was interested in wearing my designs. This spurred me on to continue making accessories and eventualy to start selling them in boutiques. I am thrilled to be using the talent God blessed me with and grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way. In short, Kate DeKoster Handmade is a fabulous line of accessories catering to brides, children, and fashion lovers!
